2025 Biennial International Conference of the Consortium of Global Hakka Studies
The Consortium of Global Hakka Studies, GHAS is pleased to announce the Biennial International Conference of the Consortium of Global Hakka Studies, aimed at promoting research on global Hakka communities and ethnic research, and fostering academic exchange and conversation. The theme of this year’s conference is “Ethnic Revitalization and Sustainable Development: The Key Role of Global Hakka.” From the perspective of Global Hakka, not from a single regional or centralized standpoint, the conference focuses on how the local, regional, and international interactions emerging from the global movement of the Hakka and other ethnic groups can contribute to the sustainable development of culture, language, economy, and society of the Hakka and other ethnic groups all over the world. This is in response to the rapid processes of globalization and modernization, which challenge the traditional ways of life, cultural identity, and languages of ethnic groups.
Scholars and graduate students from GHAS member institutions and other relevant fields are welcome to submit papers addressing global Hakka and ethnic issues. Subtopics include:
1. Ethnic identity and the challenges of modernity
2.Transnational ethnic groups and the impact of globalization
3.Multicultural contact and interethnic relations
4.Global modernity and the practice of ethnic cultures
5.Economic development and social innovation
6.Revitalization and protection strategies for ethnic cultures
7.Policies and practices for ethnic language revitalization
8.Ethnic social structures and rights protection
9.Social integration and conflict management among ethnic groups
10.Other topics related to the Hakka and ethnic issues

Eligible Participants:
Researchers and graduate students from all fields engaged in the Hakka and ethnic studies are welcome to submit.
Types of Submission:
Individual Papers: Research findings related to the Hakka and ethnic issues.
Panel Sessions: A group of 3–4 individuals submitting a panel proposal on a specific theme.
Languages:
English, Chinese
Submission Guidelines:
Individual Papers: Include the paper title, a Chinese abstract (300–500 words) or an English abstract (250–300 words) (submissions not meeting the word count requirement will not be accepted), keywords, and your institutional affiliation and academic/professional title.
