Teachers and Students from Huizhou Hualuogeng Senior High School in Guangdong China, Taoist Association Ching Chung Secondary School in Hong Kong and Yi Ming Senior High School in Hsinchu County Visited the College of Hakka Studies, National Chiao Tung University

Nearly 80 teachers and students from Huizhou Hualuogeng Senior High School in Guangdong China, Taoist Association Ching Chung Secondary School in Hong Kong and Yi Ming Senior High School in Hsinchu County visited the College of Hakka Studies, National Chiao Tung University on July 23, 2019. They were hosted by Mr. Huang Shao-Heng, Dean of the College of Hakka Studies. The visit is aimed to introduce Hakka culture to the visitors, carry forward the fine Hakka culture and traditional spirit, and promote the friendship between students of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
In the welcome remark given by the Dean Huang Shao-Heng, he mentioned that the College of Hakka Studies is committed to establishing a comprehensive knowledge system of Hakka culture. Besides the main College building, the College also includes the traditional Hakka architecture and Hakka folklore parks, such as the “Wen-Li Hall” and the “Zhong-Xiao Hall” to implement the idea of combining academic and cultural aspects. In addition to the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Communication and Technology, the Hakka Social and Cultural In-Service Master’s Program, and the International Hakka Research Center, a doctoral program was offered last year, hoping that through the doctoral program, high-level talents in the field of humanities and social sciences, and ethnic communication technology can be cultivated. It is hoped that teachers and students who are visiting can join the family of Hakka culture research, making contribution to multicultural development.
During the event, the Dean Huang Shao-Heng presented the memorial flag of the College of Hakka Studies, National Chiao Tung University to Huizhou Hualuogeng Senior High School, Taoist Association Ching Chung Secondary School, and Yi Ming Senior High School, as well as the representative from Huizhou Overseas Exchange Association, and Mr. Song Wen-Song, the principal of Yimin Senior High School, representing the visitors presented a certificate of appreciation in return.
Two doctoral students from the College gave a brief tour about the College and the campus. The first brief was given by Li Jie-Ying, which introduced the history of the College of Hakka Studies, its characteristics, future development and achievements. After the briefing, Li Jie-Ying and Luo Xiao-Lan led the two groups of teachers and students to tour the main College building which combines the round building of West Fujian Hakka with the Wielong house of East Guangdong designed by the famous architect Mr. Xie Ying-Jun. In addition, the history of the Lin Clan (Family) in Hsinchu was also introduced.
The visiting teachers and students showed great interest during the tour, and asked several questions. Great ideas and information were shared and exchanged between both sides, concluding a successful event.
